Post more voters
How do we get more voters?

maybe there should be an animated edge around the vote-button when there isnt voted for 24 hours or something.
people will notice it, and vote!hopefully

I'd say the red border is quite noticeable already. Animating borders are too annoying.

I think the problem is that people who never click the button don't realise that it only appears once every 12 hours. They may think it's an ordinary annoying button.

One possible solution is to keep track of how many times someone votes each month and link it to something cool, such as your title.

For example, the user may have an option to choose in the profile:
Displayed title [Highest Title (default) | Trade rank | Vote rank]

When "Highest Title" is selected, the displayed title will be the one which reaches the highest tier.

You would get one point towards your Vote rank every time you vote (with a maximum of 1 point every 12 hours) and every month, your vote rank is reset.

But again, the problem remains that you have to know about it.

A help item about voting is a good idea, as is a link to it under the vote button. That's on the todo.

But animated images are in general bad design. How about alternating the colour around the border randomly when you open a page? So no animated border (not on that changes colour while you look at it) but randomly choose 1 colour. That might work

Post Re: more voters
I am not sure how they are doing it but I am convinced that someone or some few from Bunny's Crew are cheating somehow. The site has so few Auctions it is a joke! It only has 792 registered members and on 42 were online today yet they have had more votes cast today than the number of online users - and in less than 12 hours. That stinks! :S

Perhaps it is a get-back-at-us from a banned member? :(

Is there anything we can do to redress this cheating? Is it possible to script a reminder - rather than have the button reappear - perhaps trigger an optional 12 hourly email so that people on the move can go to the vote site directly from the email as they may be unable to log onto the GW Auctions website to click the XtremeTop100 button.

Clearly this shenanigans reflects badly on every other site - GW Auctions and also including Imperium who have always played fair but it especially does down the credibility of XtremeTop100. :(

One thing I am worried about is that people are simply going to and clicking on the [GW Auctions] name thinking they are voting for the website? Perhaps we need to somehow drive people to (if they are wanting to vote!) so they don't make that error?

The vote button now gets a random colour border, but what do you think about vote-based titles?

I am not sure about the titles for voting as I think people should vote of their own volition but seeing who has voted and who hasn't (perhaps on the memberlist page?) might be useful - if that could be coded?

It would act as a spur to those not voting ("No name, no pack drill" but a comment in the Shoutbox that was a question about how to vote from a very active Buyer on the site would indicate that not everyone is bothering to vote!).

Alternatively, Staff could, perhaps, allowed to see who or who is not voting and then we (Staff) could target the non-voters and ask them to help by voting and maybe help by explaining how, why and what is needed to get their vote to count?

But I already had some titles in mind, like Zealous Voter :haha: (that's the only one actually)

I can start keeping track of how many times a user votes (with at least 12 hours in between) anyway, what to do with the information can be decided later :)
